🡦 MONGOLIA SCHOOL PROPOSAL
ARCHITECTURE COMPETITION
2015
—
This competition sought an innovative school design in response to Mongolia’s harsh environmental conditions with considerations of budget, local materials and accessibility.
From our research we identified Mongolia as a nation was impacted by extreme weather conditions (from -30 degrees to +30 degrees). Due to these conditions it’s more difficult for people living in rural areas such as those in the Khov’d Province to access education and communal activities.
The design is a simple modular structure embedded within the ground for thermal comfort, and centers around an underground heating / drinking system that provides sustainable water throughout all seasons - for humans as well as livestock and agriculture.
